On the afternoon of 14 October, Preah Sihanouk provincial police, working with anti-fraud officers, raided a local building suspected of involvement in telecommunications fraud. Several foreign suspects were detained at the scene.
According to police, the building was advertised for rent but was actually used to organise cross-border telecommunications scams. Officers seized computers, mobile phones and communications equipment, and questioned those involved.
Some foreigners tried to flee during the raid, but police quickly sealed off the surrounding area and brought them back. Preliminary information indicated that most of those detained were Vietnamese nationals.
The case remains under investigation. Police have not yet disclosed the exact number of people involved or details of the suspected offences.
