A senior Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation official called for an independent investigation into the mine explosion that injured several Thai soldiers on November 10, 2025.
Briefing foreign diplomats on Cambodia–Thailand border developments on the afternoon of November 13, 2025, the ministry's Permanent Secretary of State Eat Sophea expressed regret over the injuries. She said the explosion occurred near Preah Vihear temple, an area considered heavily contaminated by mines left from the civil war in the 1980s.
She also rejected allegations that Cambodian forces had planted new mines and called for avoiding misunderstandings or harm to efforts to restore peace.
Eat Sophea reaffirmed Cambodia's firm commitment to the ceasefire agreement and Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration on peaceful dispute resolution signed by the Cambodian and Thai prime ministers on October 26, 2025.
