Summary

On the 14th, Thai Prime Minister Anutin alleged Cambodia had violated the joint declaration, demanded an apology over the border mine incident and said cooperation had been suspended.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin issued his strongest public statement yet on the 14th, demanding a formal Cambodian apology over a border mine explosion that injured Thai soldiers and an admission of violating the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration. He warned that the peace process could be halted completely if Cambodia continued denying responsibility.

Anutin said on social media that he had called US President Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar separately, reiterating that Thailand had suspended all cooperation under the declaration because Cambodia had failed to comply and seriously breached it. He claimed international observers had confirmed that the mines were newly laid after the declaration was signed, proving Cambodian violations. He said Cambodia must admit wrongdoing and apologize to the Thai people or negotiations could not continue.

He also asked Trump and Anwar to convey Thailand's position to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and urged Cambodia not to obstruct Thai demining. He said Thailand wanted regional peace but would not sacrifice national dignity and security, and would take necessary measures to protect its sovereignty while having no intention of invading Cambodia.
