Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin said China would continue to give Cambodia full support towards becoming mine-free by 2030. His remarks come as Cambodia reaches an important new stage in mine clearance, advancing towards its goal of a mine-free Cambodia in 2030.
In a Facebook post on November 28, the ambassador said the Chinese Embassy and the Cambodian mine-action body CMAC had recently visited Svay Rieng province for the Mekong–Lancang Cooperation in Mine Action project. Since its launch in June 2025, the project has completely cleared explosive remnants of war and cluster bombs from 12 polygons across Romeas Haek and Svay Chrum districts in Svay Rieng province. Wang added that the project would also support new school buildings and water-supply facilities for local community preschools, contributing to local well-being.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has also called on friendly countries, development partners and the private sector to continue supporting the Royal Government's mine-action efforts, particularly the goal of a mine-free Cambodia by 2030. Cambodia–China cooperation in mine action is not only about clearance and humanitarian support, but also about paving the way for shared prosperity, peace and lasting friendship between the two countries.
