Summary

Thai police arrested a 44-year-old actress in Bangkok over alleged fundraising fraud through fictitious investment projects involving more than 190 million baht.

Thai police recently arrested actress Rybena Intachai, 44, known as Nana, in Bangkok on suspicion of raising funds fraudulently through bogus investment schemes involving more than 190 million baht (about 42 million yuan). Acting on reports from several alleged victims, officers arrested her at a luxury villa in Watthana district.

According to the police investigation, since 2022 the suspect had offered relatives, acquaintances and parents at international schools purported high-return investments. These included loan schemes promising monthly returns of 4–7%, joint stock-market investments, and stakes in sports and restaurant businesses. Police allege that she used prominent businesspeople’s names without authorisation and forged bank-transfer records and share documents to make the investments appear genuine. Some investors initially received small returns and kept increasing their investments, eventually suffering substantial losses.

Investigators allege that the money was not invested in any actual business, but was largely spent on luxury goods, expensive vehicles, gold and personal debt repayments. Police said the arrangement closely resembled a Ponzi scheme. The suspect is in custody while investigations, asset recovery and procedures to assist alleged victims continue.
