On the afternoon of December 18, monks, residents and youth representatives took part in a “peace walk” around Independence Monument park in Phnom Penh, expressing their appreciation and support for peace through action.

The event aimed to demonstrate what the report describes as a social consensus in Cambodia in favour of peace, calling on all sides to observe ceasefire arrangements and respect and implement the peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand. By walking together, participants conveyed calls for dialogue to resolve differences and peace to maintain regional stability.

Organisers said they hoped the event would bring together hopes for peace across society, encourage the parties to fulfil their commitments and safeguard security and stability along the border.
