Yesterday afternoon, Thailand’s First Army Region issued an emergency announcement saying Thai forces were continuing military operations in areas along the Cambodia–Thailand border, including Ta Phraya, Khok Sung, Aranyaprathet and Khlong Hat districts in Sa Kaeo province. The operations remained ongoing.
The First Army Region also warned residents of these four border districts not to return to their homes for the time being. The statement said exchanges of fire between Thai and Cambodian forces had not ended and the border security situation remained severe. Those who had returned to border villages were told to go back immediately to designated shelters for their safety.

Against this background, a company in Cambodia’s Poipet city urgently organised an evacuation that evening, arranging five buses overnight to move the people concerned to a relatively safe area. People involved said the precautionary move was taken out of concern that the situation might escalate further, to reduce potential risks.
