Summary

Svay Rieng’s administration said on January 10 that Bavet police had investigated a viral dog-cage video. The owner said limited trailer space led some workers to sit temporarily in an empty cage; authorities warned those involved not to repeat the practice.

A video of a motorcycle trailer transporting a dog cage containing people recently circulated widely on social media and drew public discussion. In response, the Svay Rieng provincial administration issued an official statement on January 10 to explain and clarify the circumstances. It said the video had been filmed in Bavet city, Svay Rieng province, and that its circulation online had attracted attention and prompted numerous inappropriate assumptions.

The statement acknowledged that people were indeed inside one dog cage shown in the video. After receiving information about the incident, Bavet police immediately investigated and quickly located the cage’s owner. They established that the person had made the cage for keeping animals. The owner explained that, because the motorcycle trailer had limited space and could not accommodate all the accompanying workers at once, some workers were temporarily asked to sit inside the empty cage for the journey. A passer-by filmed them and uploaded the footage, causing misunderstanding.

The provincial administration said that, after fully examining the circumstances and hearing the person’s explanation, it had sternly reminded those involved that they must not transport people in this way again, to avoid further public misunderstanding and adverse effects. It also appealed to the public to assess online information rationally.
