Four Cambodian fishermen detained by the Thai navy have recently been released and returned safely to Cambodia following active coordination between the relevant Cambodian and Thai authorities. According to the Cambodian side’s notification, the incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on January 6, when the Thai navy inspected a Cambodian fishing boat operating in waters near Yong Island and detained the four fishermen along with their boat. After the incident, the relevant Cambodian authorities gave it close attention and immediately began responding.
The Cambodian government then communicated and held discussions with Thailand through diplomatic and law-enforcement cooperation channels. Following coordination among several parties, the two sides reached a satisfactory solution to the relevant issues, and the detained fishermen were eventually released and returned home safely.
