According to figures compiled and published by Voice of Wa Youth, areas controlled by the United Wa State Army made 16 batches of handovers to China in 2025 involving people linked to online scams and other unlawful or criminal activities. Those handed over included 533 Chinese people implicated in cases, as well as nearly 90,000 Chinese citizens without valid legal documents.
The Wa authorities also cooperated with Chinese operations on several occasions to hand over relevant criminal suspects wanted by China. The number of specific cases was still being compiled and verified.
