Sihanoukville Governor Mang Sineth inspected progress in Koh Rong city and development of the Prek Kongkang ecotourism community on January 11, 2026. Located in Koh Rong sangkat, Koh Rong city, Sihanoukville province, the natural mangrove-creek ecotourism area is an important attraction for domestic and international visitors, alongside the city’s beautiful white-sand beaches, waterfalls, seabed resources and other natural assets.
Sreng Haisok, head of Koh Rong city’s tourism community, said Prek Kongkang continues to serve the tourism sector and is seeing increased numbers of both domestic and international visitors, with around 120 to 150 people coming each day.
This has received attention from the city authorities, particularly the governor, who has encouraged the community to improve management, maintain its appearance, hygiene and environment, and protect against illegal cutting and encroachment.
The provincial governor, the Koh Rong city mayor and their working group are continuing to inspect progress in preparing, improving and testing a new tourism product: bamboo rafts to carry visitors sightseeing along the mangrove creek, to ensure quality and safety during trips and passenger transport.
