At about 10 p.m. on January 11, a traffic accident occurred on Russian Boulevard near the Ministry of National Defence in Phnom Penh. A Rolls-Royce driven by a Chinese man lost control and struck the central road divider, seriously damaging the car. No one was injured or killed.
Witnesses said the car was travelling from east to west when it suddenly veered out of its lane outside the Defence Ministry and crashed into the central barrier. The impact broke the divider. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved, but the driver quickly left the scene after the crash and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Police and traffic officers attended the scene after receiving the report, examined the site and had the car towed to the Land Traffic Affairs Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police for temporary impoundment. Police are continuing to investigate the cause and trace the driver; further action will be taken in accordance with the law.
