On January 12, Phnom Penh’s administration announced large-scale enforcement measures to continue operations to eliminate online scams within its jurisdiction, in cooperation with relevant authorities. The plan was announced at an important meeting between Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng, specialist law-enforcement forces and local authorities from all 14 districts.
As chair of Phnom Penh’s unified command committee, Khuong Sreng issued firm instructions for the officials concerned to identify specific target locations and begin inspecting suspected condominiums and collective residential sites, both small and large. Enforcement operations are to follow if links to online scams are found.
The governor said fighting online scams is an important matter receiving close attention from the Royal Government. He said law-enforcement forces, working with the administrative unified command committees of all 14 districts, had performed well and carried out successive successful operations against online scams and crimes such as kidnapping.
