On the afternoon of January 12, Sihanoukville Governor Mang Sineth chaired a province-wide meeting on security and public-order management. It focused on deploying strict action against telecommunications and online scams, illegal online gambling and all forms of organised crime, emphasising stronger social governance to continue improving the investment and tourism environment.
Officials in charge of administrations at different levels and law-enforcement agencies attended. The meeting coordinated arrangements for security management in residential areas, oversight of communal accommodation, action against illegal online gambling and drug crime, and strict compliance by public officials with anti-drug rules.
Mang Sineth said social security was an important foundation for economic and tourism development. In recent years, Sihanoukville had installed about 530 surveillance cameras in priority areas and planned to add more than 200 to improve crime prevention and control. The provincial government would also strengthen traffic and fire-safety management and pay attention to accommodation arrangements for displaced families. He called on law-enforcement agencies to maintain frequent, high-pressure operations against serious crimes including online scams, online gambling, drugs and human trafficking, to safeguard social stability.
