Ministry of Public Works and Transport spokesman Phon Rim said on the afternoon of January 13, 2026 that construction of the Ta Khmao wastewater system development project was more than 15% complete as of the end of 2025.
Phon Rim added that the project had received approval in principle for technical studies and detailed designs for improvements to stormwater pumping stations, construction of new pumping stations and installation of stormwater drainage networks.
He said the Ta Khmao wastewater system project comprises 125 kilometres of sewers, 5.3 kilometres of stormwater drains, seven small and large wastewater pumping stations, and 10,000 household connections.
The project covers Kampong Samnanh, Ta Kdol, Ta Khmao, Prek Ho and Prek Ruessey sangkats. It also includes a wastewater treatment plant being built on approximately 20 hectares in Prek Thmey village, Roka Khpos sangkat, Ta Khmao city.
Construction of the Ta Khmao wastewater system development project began in early November 2024 and is scheduled to finish at the end of 2027.
