Cambodia’s Senate President Hun Sen, known as the Cambodian strongman, issued a message on January 14 about his work in the Cambodian government. He said more than 47 years of experience had acquainted him with almost every aspect of national and people’s concerns, as well as regional and international issues.

According to a post on his official Facebook page, Hun Sen wrote: “Today is the 41st anniversary of my becoming Prime Minister (January 14, 1985–January 14, 2026). At the time, I was the youngest prime minister in the world, aged 32, after serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs in January 1979 at 27 and as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in June 1981 at 29.”

He added: “Over 44 years working in government and nearly three years in the Senate, totalling more than 47 years, have enabled me to experience almost every flavour of the issues facing our nation and people, as well as regional and international matters.”
