Preah Sihanouk Deputy Governor Em Pheap chaired a meeting to review and comment on a request to use an emblem for the Kampong Som municipal administration and the emblem’s meaning. Municipal leaders and heads or representatives of relevant provincial units attended the meeting on the afternoon of January 14, 2026.
The meeting aimed to improve the emblem so that it better reflects the development, potential and identity of Kampong Som, a new municipality in Preah Sihanouk province. Participants focused on selecting symbols and key imagery representing the economy, society, culture, tourism and infrastructure. They recommended further refinement to make the emblem attractive, meaningful and appropriate to the city’s current development context.
Pursuant to Interior Ministry Letter No.1165 S.Ch.N., dated April 16, 2020, and Decision No.011/25 S.S.R.K.K.S., dated July 2, 2025, the Kampong Som municipal administration established a city-level working group to study, prepare and determine an emblem based on the city’s history, culture, traditions, development and potential.
The working group prepared a draft emblem and an explanation of its meaning, which have been reviewed and approved by the municipal council. A request was then submitted for permission to use it officially in the future administrative work and publicity of the Kampong Som municipal administration. By: Pai Sokhim
