On January 15, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha held a working meeting with Chinese Assistant Minister of Public Security Liu Zhongyi. They held in-depth discussions on deepening bilateral law-enforcement cooperation and strengthening the prevention and suppression of various transnational crimes, particularly telecommunications and online scams, and expressed strong confidence in future cooperation.
Sar Sokha said the law-enforcement agencies of Cambodia and China had established a highly trusting, practical and efficient cooperation mechanism, with continuing breakthroughs in their results. He said this close collaboration effectively protected the lives and property of both countries’ peoples and public order, and also contributed positively to security and stability in the region and worldwide.
On behalf of China’s Ministry of Public Security, Liu Zhongyi expressed strong appreciation for Sar Sokha’s leadership and sense of responsibility in combating telecom scams and commended Cambodia’s recent series of special governance mechanisms. He said these measures played an important role in addressing transnational and global crime challenges and demonstrated Cambodia’s firm commitment to fighting crime and maintaining security. Sar Sokha reiterated that under Prime Minister Hun Manet’s leadership, Cambodia’s government had made combating cybercrime a key task. The Interior Ministry would continue strengthening cooperation with China and relevant international organisations and intensifying law enforcement to keep eliminating telecom scams and other illegal activities.
