In an exclusive interview with China News Service on January 16, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia Sun Chanthol said the recent arrests and deportations of Chen Zhi and other people suspected of online fraud were only the first step. He said the Cambodian government was determined to combat online fraud and that the operations would continue.
Sun Chanthol said online fraud harmed the public’s interests as well as the country’s reputation and image. He said Cambodia would make every effort to eradicate the problem, ensure a safe online environment, and protect the country’s image and its investment and tourism environment.
