Summary

Responding on January 19 to foreign missions’ travel-advisory maps, the ministry said heightened caution applied only to some border areas and major destinations remained open as usual.

On January 19, the Tourism Ministry responded to maps advising travel to Cambodia issued by some foreign missions in the country, saying Cambodia remained a safe, secure and stable destination for domestic and international tourists.

Its clarification said previously circulated information and maps could cause confusion among the public, particularly international tourists, about overall tourism safety. The heightened caution mentioned was limited to certain border areas and could not be used to draw conclusions about general safety throughout Cambodia.

The ministry reiterated that Cambodia remained safe, secure and stable for domestic and international tourists. Major destinations including Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Preah Sihanouk, as well as other tourism destinations, continued operating normally and welcoming visitors without interruption under strict safety assurances by the competent authorities.

The ministry said it remained open to cooperation and to providing tourism information and accounts of the actual situation, ensuring published information was accurate and balanced and supported international tourists’ decisions about safe travel plans to Cambodia.
