Summary

Treang’s governor counselled students gathering at pavilions near two high schools during class hours on January 20 and asked nearby businesses to help send them back to school.

Oum Chamroeun, governor of Treang district and chairman of its unified command committee in Takeo province, led personnel to personally counsel students who had skipped classes and gathered at leisure pavilions near Prey Tob High School and Hun Sen Po Ampil High School.

According to the Treang district administration’s Facebook page, the action to strengthen discipline and social order took place on the morning of January 20, 2026. The governor instructed the students gathering outside school during class hours to understand the value of education and stop such behaviour for their own future and that of their families, communities and the country as a whole.

Oum Chamroeun also instructed business owners and other service providers near the two schools to cooperate with the authorities and not allow students to gather during class hours. They should also remind and advise students visiting their premises to return to school. The governor’s direct counselling of students at the pavilions received strong support from parents, guardians and teachers.
