Summary

The ministry said heightened-caution guidance concerned particular border areas and should not be read as an assessment of the entire country.

On January 19, Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism thanked foreign embassies for providing safety guidance and maps. It clarified that “heightened caution” applied to a limited number of specific border areas, rather than constituting an assessment of Cambodia as a whole.

The ministry described the country overall as stable and safe and said Cambodia had long been regarded as a reliable tourist destination. It said major tourist cities and attractions, including Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, remained open, tourism was operating in good order, and visitors’ travel safety and lawful rights were protected, inviting domestic and international visitors to travel, sightsee and relax in Cambodia with confidence.

The ministry said it would continue providing the international community with truthful, accurate and comprehensive tourism information. It urged the public, embassies and consulates, the media and tourism professionals to disseminate information objectively and responsibly and jointly maintain Cambodia’s positive international tourism image.
