Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin expressed confidence in Cambodia’s commitment and capacity to combat online scams and said China was always ready to cooperate with and support Cambodia in eliminating technology-related scams from the country.
He made the remarks during a January 20 meeting with Chhay Sinarith, Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions and head of the secretariat of the committee combating technology-related scams.
The Chinese ambassador thanked the Cambodian government and authorities for cooperating in the arrest and return to China of suspected Chinese ringleaders and their accomplices for further investigation.
The Cambodian side stressed its firm and clear commitment to measures to suppress and eliminate technology-related scam locations and criminal groups. It said Cambodia would continue cooperating with partner countries to jointly dismantle these criminal networks decisively.
According to the reported enforcement figures, from June 27 to December 18, 2025, operations covered 118 locations in 18 capital and provincial jurisdictions. Authorities apprehended 4,983 suspects, including 979 women, of 23 nationalities, and deported 4,039 foreign nationals, including 605 women.
