On the morning of January 21, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet chaired a meeting of the committee combating online scams, comprehensively reviewing recent enforcement results and drawing up firm action plans for the next phase to eliminate online-scam crime.
Hun Manet stressed that maintaining social safety and combating cross-border crime were a political priority of the seventh-mandate government. He said online scams were highly transnational and had seriously harmed social stability, but the government’s earlier forceful measures had achieved significant results, demonstrating Cambodia’s firm determination to eliminate this “international public menace”.
Hun Manet called on officials, the armed forces and police, and the public to work together to protect safety and maintain Cambodia’s international image.
