Member companies of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area Economic and Industrial Research Federation have decided to invest in Cambodia, with plans to establish factories producing tissue paper and office products and to invest in renewable energy.
On the morning of January 21, 2026, Chea Vuthy, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, received a delegation led by federation chairman Liang Songshou. The visiting companies expressed their intention to invest in Cambodia.
Liang Songshou added that over the past year the federation had led many companies to visit Cambodia and study its investment environment. Member companies had now decided to invest in Cambodia to establish tissue-paper and office-product factories and renewable-energy projects.
Chea Vuthy supported and welcomed the investment plans and called for close attention to environmental protection measures. He suggested developing a special economic zone for paper and office-product manufacturing at a suitable location, with renewable energy supplying the zone.
To secure supply chains, he said the companies should consider establishing production bases or production lines in Cambodia for raw materials or semi-finished goods to supply export-oriented industries. He also highlighted the potential for agro-processing investment and urged prompt investment registration with the Cambodian Investment Board of the CDC so companies could benefit sooner from opportunities in Cambodia.
