A public sex incident occurred on Pattaya Central Beach on the morning of January 25. A 61-year-old Thai woman and a 34-year-old British citizen were seen engaging in sexual activity on the sand opposite the city police station. Tourists filmed it and alerted police; the video became key evidence for their handling of the case.
A patrol quickly arrived, detained both people at the scene and took them to the police station. Checks found the British man had no legal status; he did not deny what had happened.
Police said the case was being handled as public disorder. Investigations continued into whether those involved had been affected by alcohol or drugs and into other relevant factors.
