Cambodian and Lao technical teams will work together to review procedures for transporting Cambodian agricultural products to China through Laos. The commitment was made at a bilateral meeting and the witnessed signing of an agricultural-goods transit agreement on the morning of January 25, 2026, chaired by Cambodian Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Dith Tina and Lao Agriculture and Environment Minister Linkham DOUANGSAVANH at Cambodia's Agriculture Ministry.
Dith Tina discussed strengthening cooperation between Cambodia and Laos and further promoting agricultural trade and reciprocal supplies of farm products, especially Cambodian agricultural exports to China through Laos.
The minister said cooperation through the earlier memorandum of understanding had been pragmatic and proactive. The agreement signed that day further strengthened relations, while the two technical teams would jointly review agricultural-transit procedures to open a route for Cambodian farm exports to China.
Dith Tina also outlined possible cooperation with Laos on linking value chains, supplies of fertiliser minerals from Laos, improving the investment environment and seed production, raising production standards and holding agricultural exhibitions. He emphasised quality, safety, lower costs and economic efficiency, particularly joint action on forest-fire prevention and conservation of forests, wildlife, biodiversity and natural resources.
Cambodia and Laos expressed their willingness and commitment to closer, growing cooperation, promoting agricultural trade and economic growth and benefiting people in both countries.
