On the morning of January 27, 2026, the Stung Hav district administration in Preah Sihanouk demolished a solid stone jetty and other materials said to have been built on encroached beach land. The administration had ordered the owner of BEACH HOUSE restaurant to remove the bridge and related structures immediately, before the January 26 deadline, but the owner had not cooperated or followed the authorities’ instructions.
That morning, district forces led by Deputy District Governor Thoeun Sothin, joined by the provincial administration and mixed forces, used machinery to demolish the jetty. The report described it as irregularly built without legal permission, encroaching on Prek Treng beach land in Village 4, Ou Treh commune, Stung Hav district, Preah Sihanouk.
As a tourism province, Preah Sihanouk needs participation from all relevant parties in its development to ensure attractive districts, cities and province, a clean environment, and stronger appeal to visitors and investors.
The report said members of the public strongly supported the action and hoped the authorities would continue similar measures elsewhere. By: Pai Sokhim
