According to a General Department of Immigration publication, 319 Chinese nationals, including one woman, who were linked to online-scam cases were deported from Cambodia on a special aircraft on the night of February 9, through cooperation between Cambodian authorities and the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.
The department said the deportations demonstrated the government’s efforts to clear out technology-enabled crime. Strict measures and campaigns sought to safeguard people’s safety and act against the organisers behind these activities without exception. It said the campaign against online crime would also rescue victims deceived into participating, allowing them to regain freedom and return to their countries.
