On the morning of February 12, Phnom Penh’s council held the 21st regular meeting of its fourth term. Mayor Khuong Sreng outlined recent priorities and progress in public security, fire safety, public-order measures and public services, signalling continued intensive enforcement.
The meeting emphasised action against online scams. Khuong Sreng again conveyed Prime Minister Hun Manet’s instructions that the Phnom Penh unified command must completely eliminate online-scam crime in the city before March 30, 2026, aiming for zero cases. The city was intensifying checks on organisers and compounds and concentrating resources on the campaign to meet the deadline.
With the continuing increase in high-rise buildings, the city had strategically reinforced firefighting deployments across districts, prioritising saving lives and requiring ambulances and fire engines to stand ready together. Ahead of Lunar New Year, departments would increase fire warnings and patrols to guard against holiday risks and protect residents.
