“No matter how the world changes, Cambodia and China will always be good friends,” the King’s personal adviser Hor Namhong said when receiving Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin at his home on February 27. They exchanged New Year greetings and discussed the two countries’ traditional friendship.
Wang Wenbin said Hor Namhong had made important contributions to bilateral relations as a former deputy prime minister and foreign minister and former co-chair of the Cambodia–China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee. He described him as a key witness to, and participant in, building the two countries’ new-era ironclad friendship. Their continued cooperation under the Diamond Hexagon framework owed much to generations of old friends.
Hor Namhong recalled his longstanding friendship and successful cooperation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. He particularly remembered Wang Yi patting him on the shoulder and calling him an “old friend,” and asked Wang Wenbin to convey his greetings.
