The 2026 National Culture Day theme, “Youth for National Culture,” focuses on preserving Khmer identity. On March 3, Cambodia marks its 28th National Culture Day to honour the rich arts, culture and civilisation inherited from Khmer ancestors. It aims to inspire the public, especially young people, to love, maintain and protect that heritage and sustain national identity. As the slogan puts it: “When culture disappears, the nation declines; when culture flourishes, the nation prospers.” March 3 represents a shared commitment to safeguarding and passing on national cultural heritage.
The government continues to prioritise the protection and enhancement of national culture under Phase One of the Pentagonal Strategy for the seventh legislative term of the National Assembly. Guided by “Cambodia: Kingdom of Culture,” it seeks to promote the country internationally and contribute to a prosperous and civilised nation. By Lay Kol
