Phnom Penh police and other agencies reportedly searched Phnom Penh Galaxy Garden condominium in Sen Sok on April 6, detaining 218 foreign online-fraud suspects, including 10 women. The reported breakdown was 93 Chinese nationals, including five from Taiwan; 91 Bangladeshis; 17 Vietnamese; 11 Indians; five Japanese; and one Lao national. Of the total, 114 did not have passports.

Officers reportedly seized 133 all-in-one computers, 44 laptops and 392 phones, together with sets of fake Japanese police uniforms, caps and identity documents. The report described the alleged methods as concealed and specialised.

According to the Phnom Penh police statement cited, technical examinations indicated divided roles: some allegedly posed as Japanese police to target Japanese citizens, while others used romance and false-investment scams against people in countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Vietnam. At the time of reporting, those involved and the evidence had been transferred to Phnom Penh police, and investigation was continuing.
