On June 4, 2026, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn and Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Wang Wenbin signed a Special Fund agreement for seven 2026 Mekong–Lancang Cooperation projects worth about US$1,980,000, including:
1. Mushroom production enterprises for poverty reduction in Kandal province.
2. Integrating rural economic diversification and clean-water distribution for a shared future — phase two.
3. Expanding regional market access through packaging innovation in Mekong–Lancang countries.
4. A hepatitis elimination project.
5. Digitalising Mekong–Lancang community tourism: preparing to welcome Chinese tourists.
6. Advancing green technology and digital transformation capacity for engineers in Mekong subregion countries.
7. From China to Cambodia: strengthening water-data capacity and regional dialogue under the Lancang–Mekong Cooperation framework.
The projects are expected to contribute to Cambodia’s priority national development fields, including poverty reduction, rural development, health, tourism and digital transformation.
Since 2017, Cambodia has received funding support for 113 projects under the Mekong–Lancang Cooperation Special Fund. The report presents successful implementation as reflecting Cambodia and China’s commitment to a community of shared peace, prosperity and sustainable development for all Mekong–Lancang countries.
