Summary

Police described three suspected gang-violence cases involving four, eight and 11 arrests, plus the detention of a Chinese man in a firearm case. Four people found uninvolved were allowed home.

Phnom Penh police presented several suspects in gang-violence and illegal-firearm cases after investigations and enforcement operations conducted under National Police leadership instructions.

According to police, the first case occurred at 3:50 a.m. on June 21, 2026, at the traffic lights near ឫស្សីសាញ់ pagoda in Dangkao district. A group riding motorcycles carried an umbrella shaft and kicked officers’ motorcycles. Police detained four suspects and seized one umbrella shaft.

In the second case, police acted against a group known as SR at a Tela petrol station on National Road 3 in Dangkao district as it allegedly prepared to throw a stone at rivals. Eight suspects were detained and one stone was seized as evidence.

In the third case, specialist officers acted against a group known as BCT over violence and property destruction in Niroth commune, Chbar Ampov district. The incident caused serious injuries to a victim and extensive property damage. Eleven suspects were detained for legal proceedings.

Serious-crime police, working with Chbar Ampov district police, also investigated an illegal-firearm case at Borey Peng Huoth in វាលស្បូវ commune and detained a 37-year-old Chinese national named CHENG FUMING.

Police seized one CZ P-07 pistol, one magazine, 10 rounds and two mobile phones. Police said the suspect admitted that the firearm belonged to another Chinese national who had left it with him before departing for Malaysia.

Police are preparing case files for the suspects’ referral to court under the law. Four people found uninvolved were given guidance and allowed to return home.
