Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin said the ironclad friendship between China and Cambodia involved support for one another’s interests and offered a model of equality and mutually beneficial cooperation between large and small countries.
He spoke at the official inauguration of a 45.489-kilometre section of National Road 7, from the Skun roundabout to the roundabout at the foot of the Kizuna Bridge in Kampong Cham city, on the morning of July 7, 2026. The ceremony was presided over by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Wang Wenbin said: “China–Cambodia friendship has endured history and many changes on the international stage and has grown stronger. China and Cambodia are ironclad friends who understand and help one another, support each other’s core interests and help address major issues between the two countries. This provides a model of equality between large and small countries and mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.”
The ambassador recalled that Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Cambodia in April of the previous year, 2025. During that visit, the two countries’ leaders opened a new chapter in building an all-weather China–Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era.
He added that the building of that community had brought the countries closer, strengthened mutual trust and deepened cooperation across sectors. He said this demonstrated the importance of China–Cambodia friendship in the new era.
According to Wang Wenbin, China would continue strengthening and expanding cooperation with Cambodia and draw the all-weather community with a shared future closer, while promoting industry and technology through the “Fish and Rice Corridor” to achieve more results. He emphasised that building this community should translate bilateral friendship into further tangible achievements benefiting the people of both countries.
