On the morning of July 23, a commemoration was held in Cambodia’s Oddar Meanchey province to mark the first anniversary of the Thai military’s invasion into the area. Prayers and a memorial ceremony honoured soldiers and police who died defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Local party and government leaders, armed forces personnel, public servants and members of the public gathered for the solemn ceremony. They mourned the fallen and paid tribute to the soldiers and police who gave their lives to defend the country’s security and sovereignty. Relatives of several of those killed attended carrying portraits of their loved ones.
During the ceremony, participants gave alms to 208 monks, alongside prayers for the souls of the fallen to rest in peace. Participants said they would remember their sacrifices, stand firm in defending the country and safeguard stability along Cambodia’s borders and the security of its territory.
