Hun Manet urged law enforcement to sustain pressure on online scam networks and pursue smaller, concealed operations.

On August 28, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet chaired a plenary cabinet meeting and again ordered law enforcement agencies at all levels to maintain strong pressure on online scams. He called for strict action under the law to eliminate remaining criminal sites and networks and safeguard the country’s rule-of-law reputation and public security.

Hun Manet commended the progress made by national and local law enforcement agencies in the crackdown, stressing that efforts must not weaken or stop.

Previously released government figures showed that, from July 2025 to August 20, 2026, authorities inspected 793 suspected locations and carried out crackdowns at 624 sites, detaining nearly 30,000 suspects of 39 nationalities. The government said no large-scale online scam compounds remained in the country.

However, the government also said some criminal groups had changed their methods, shifting to smaller, concealed operations in hotels, apartments, rental properties, vehicles and coffee shops. Hun Manet instructed law enforcement agencies to continue pursuing and cracking down on all remaining online scam activities.

He also called for stronger flood monitoring and rescue preparedness, further simplification of registration procedures for small and medium-sized enterprises, and more efficient one-stop public services.
