Ministry of Mines Announces Temporary Suspension of New License Applications for Rooftop Solar Installation Service Companies
Cambodia's Ministry of Mines and Energy suspends new license applications for rooftop solar installation service companies, citing that 68 already-authorized companies are sufficient to meet current demand.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy has issued an announcement regarding the temporary suspension of receiving new applications for authorization letters for companies providing rooftop solar power system installation services to electricity users in Cambodia.
The Ministry stated that this temporary suspension decision was made because, at present, there are 68 companies that have received authorization and are capable of adequately responding to demand.
In implementing the principles for providing rooftop solar power system installation services in Cambodia, the Ministry has issued authorization letters to 68 companies providing rooftop solar power system installation services, and 58 of these companies have received licenses from the Electricity Authority of Cambodia to conduct activities in accordance with existing regulations.
Based on the situation of implementing the above principles and the current demand for rooftop solar power system installation services, the Ministry has reviewed and found that the number of companies that have already received authorization is sufficient to respond to the demand.
Therefore, in order to allow time for monitoring and evaluating the service provision of companies that have already received authorization, as well as to reassess the actual demand for providing the above services, the Ministry of Mines and Energy has decided to temporarily suspend the acceptance of new applications for authorization letters for companies providing rooftop solar power system installation services, effective from the date of this announcement, until further notice.
At the same time, companies that have already received authorization must carry out installation work directly and must not transfer, subcontract, or delegate responsibility for their work to other companies or individuals who do not have authorization, nor shall they disseminate misleading information or persuade customers to install systems beyond actual demand.
