On the morning of September 20, 2026, Samdech Kittisangahapundit Men Sam An, a member of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, presided over a ceremony to plant 2,200 saplings at the Qilu Special Economic Zone in Svay Rieng City. Another 16,000 saplings were distributed to all eight municipalities and districts across Svay Rieng province.
Svay Rieng Governor Peng Posa said the event reflected a shared commitment by the public and private sectors to ensure that economic growth, industry and investment advance alongside sustainable environmental protection, without abandoning either priority.
On the occasion, Men Sam An conveyed greetings from the country’s senior leaders—Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Dr. Pich Chanmony—to those attending and to people across the country.
Thanking the Ministry of Environment, the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the provincial administration and the leadership of the Qilu Special Economic Zone, she stressed: “Planting trees and protecting forests means helping ourselves. It can help us withstand climate change, provide protection from natural disasters and offer hope for future generations.” The activity not only expands green cover in the province but also encourages an important national movement to restore, conserve and sustain natural heritage.
