91 arrested! Transnational click-farming fraud gang busted in Bokeo Province, Laos

Vietnamese public security authorities reported on September 16 that on September 12, law enforcement agencies of Bokeo Province, Laos, and Vietnamese police jointly conducted an operation that successfully dismantled a gang suspected of transnational online click-farming fraud. A total of 91 suspects were arrested, including 64 Vietnamese nationals and 27 individuals of other nationalities. The gang's ringleader and key core members have all been taken into custody.

According to Vietnamese police, the gang had long been operating in Bokeo Province, Laos, using Facebook accounts to identify targets and luring victims with "click-farming rebate" offers to place orders on fake e-commerce websites, through which they defrauded funds. At the scene, police seized 65 computers, 192 mobile phones, and other equipment involved in the crimes.

Preliminary investigations show that since the beginning of 2026, the gang has defrauded thousands of Vietnamese victims, with the amount involved totaling around 1.5 trillion Vietnamese dong, equivalent to approximately USD 57 million.

After the operation, the 64 Vietnamese suspects and related physical evidence were transferred to the police of Lao Cai Province, Vietnam, while the 27 foreign suspects are being handled by the Lao side in accordance with the law. Vietnamese police are currently further expanding the scope of the investigation and pursuing legal responsibility for those involved in accordance with the law.
