Hun Manet Opens International Conference on Combating Technology-Enabled Scams in Cambodia

On the morning of September 23, 2026, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet presided over the opening of the International Conference on Combating Technology-Enabled Scams. The two-day conference, held in Phnom Penh on September 23–24 under the theme “Together Towards Breaking the Chains and Ending Technology-Enabled Scams,” reflects Cambodia’s firm commitment to eliminating transnational crime as a country also affected by it.
Representatives from more than 20 countries, including the United States, China, Australia, Japan, South Korea, ASEAN countries, and countries in Europe and Africa, joined major international organizations at the conference. It brings together policymakers and law enforcement officials to discuss a collective response to this global threat through sharing experience and joint training.
After the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha will deliver the first agenda item’s keynote address on “Technology-Enabled Scams: An Urgent Global Issue.”
According to Interior Ministry Deputy Spokesperson Touch Sokhak, the minister will present the causes and evolution of technology-enabled scams and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence; Cambodia’s mechanisms and concrete enforcement results; stronger international cooperation; and the government’s firm determination to eliminate these transnational crimes more effectively as part of a shared response for humanity.
