Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration Shares Experience in Managing Waste Disposal Sites with Siem Reap and Battambang Provinces

On September 21-22, 2026, Mr. Long Dimanche, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, accompanied a delegation from the Ministry of Interior, led by His Excellency Um Mara, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior, to inspect, monitor, and support the implementation of the urban solid waste management function in Siem Reap Province and Battambang Province, within the framework of the "Project for Improvement of Solid Waste and Plastic Waste Management in Cambodia," with a total of 47 participants.
This program was organized with three main objectives: to monitor progress, challenges, and implementation directions against the original plan; to update the organization and management of waste disposal sites in both provinces; to discuss and resolve challenges, accelerate project implementation, and share best practices that Preah Sihanouk Province has successfully achieved in the past.
On that occasion, Mr. Long Dimanche shared good experiences in waste collection and management, as well as highlighted key points that need to be addressed urgently, including promoting waste segregation and reducing the use of plastic bags, which are increasing dramatically, requiring urgent response measures and active participation from citizens.
The above project is under the direct coordination of the Standing Committee, which plays a role in strategic direction, inter-institutional coordination, supporting target sub-national administrations, as well as monitoring, evaluation, and preparing annual activity plans and budgets to achieve the expected goals.
