28 Years Since the Assassination Attempt on Samdech Techo

After the enemy secretly tried to kill me but failed at that time, I placed my hand on my head and said in my heart that I must consolidate power and end the war no matter what.
In fact, after winning the 1998 election, I offered to resign as Prime Minister at a meeting of the Permanent Committee of the Party at my home in Ta Khmau on the evening of July 27, 1998, chaired by Brother Chea Sim, but no leader agreed to let me stop serving as Prime Minister.
I thought I would continue to serve as Prime Minister until 2003, but when they dared to try to kill me so brutally, I raised my hand to my head and said in my heart that I must consolidate power, end the war, and serve as Prime Minister until I no longer wish to do so.
Later, I said that today I am Prime Minister; tomorrow I will become the father of a Prime Minister. I truly did it: Hun Manet became Prime Minister more than three years ago through an election and in accordance with the Constitution.
I wanted to stop being Prime Minister at the age of 46, but when they tried to kill me, I had to serve as Prime Minister for another 25 years until I was 71 before stopping.
Hun Sen's power has not ended yet, both as president of the ruling party and as president of the Senate.
