Svay Rieng Becomes the First Province to Open the 2026 National Games Torch Run Event with a Joyful Atmosphere

The Torch Run Ceremony for the 5th National Games and the 3rd National Games for Persons with Disabilities in 2026 was held grandly in Svay Rieng City
On the morning of September 25, 2026, His Excellency Peng Pothisara, Governor of Svay Rieng Province, accompanied by His Excellency Bun Savan, Member of the Provincial Council, His Excellency Ke Bunkieng, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, along with many leaders of relevant ministries and institutions, presided as the Presidium over the "Torch Run Ceremony for the 5th National Games and the 3rd National Games for Persons with Disabilities in 2026." The ceremony took place at the Independence Monument roundabout in Svay Rieng Province, with enthusiastic participation from the Cycling Association, civil servants, and residents, totaling approximately 2,000 people.
On that occasion, the Governor expressed his deep gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, as well as the National Games Organizing Committee, for placing their trust and deciding once again to choose Svay Rieng Province to organize this momentous event. In particular, Svay Rieng is the first province to host the torch run ceremony among the provinces serving as host venues for the competitions in 2026. This is also the second historic occasion in which the provincial administration and the people of Svay Rieng have the honor of hosting such an important national sports program, filled with profound meaning and great excitement.
It should also be noted that the torch run route covers a total distance of approximately 3,550 meters. The procession began with His Excellency the Presidium member running with the torch first, then handing it over to the Deputy Governor and representatives of departments and units, in a relay format continuing all the way to the finish, with the Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sport being the final unit.
