Deputy PM Tea Seiha launches military service law implementation from October 1, 2026
Deputy Prime Minister Tea Seiha, Minister of National Defense, on behalf of the Ministry of National Defense and the National Military Service Commission, wishes to inform the youth that the Kingdom of Cambodia will begin implementing the Law on Military Service. The Royal Government has issued initial implementation guidelines aimed at building a more capable and disciplined defense force to meet the needs of the nation.
From October 1, 2026 onward, young men wishing to fulfill their military service may submit applications at the Royal Gendarmerie battalion bases in their respective cities, districts, and khans. Youth are encouraged to follow official announcements to learn about the requirements, the documents they need to prepare, and the subsequent steps of the application process.
Defending the homeland and its territorial integrity is the duty of every Cambodian citizen. In a context where society and technology are changing rapidly, the nation must have forces that are well trained, knowledgeable, skilled, disciplined, and capable, ensuring the protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity, the people, and peace.
The nation and the Royal Government need a quality human resource base. Performing military service and gaining knowledge, discipline, mutual support, and personal responsibility can contribute to serving our homeland. Participating in training will strengthen young people's physical and mental fitness, discipline, skills, and experience, boost their confidence and self-reliance, and provide a solid foundation for their studies, work, and life after completing military service.
I call on all parents, guardians, and citizens to offer support, encouragement, and help young people clearly understand the purpose of this law. Family and community support are essential to youth readiness. The selection process will be carried out in accordance with established conditions and procedures, with transparency and fairness.⬗
