His Excellency Ok Khnuoch leads experts to inspect flood situation and impacts in Battambang Province

On September 27, 2026, His Excellency Ok Khnuoch, Vice President of the National Committee for Disaster Management, representing His Excellency Kok Kim, Minister and First Vice President of the National Committee for Disaster Management, led a team of technical officials to inspect the situation and impacts caused by flash floods in Aek Phnom District and Battambang City, Battambang Province.

During the inspection, the working team assessed the situation in Reach Donkeo Village, Preak Norint Commune, Aek Phnom District, in particular the construction of a temporary wooden bridge to facilitate travel for residents, especially pregnant women and patients heading to health centers, and also instructed that crossings through potentially dangerous areas be prohibited.

At the same time, His Excellency Ok Khnuoch also visited residents who had been evacuated from Kouk Doung Village, Peam Aek Commune, Aek Phnom District, to safe ground, urging them to take care of their health and requesting authorities to provide timely support and assistance in addressing their needs.

His Excellency also instructed authorities at all levels to continue monitoring the flood situation regularly, collect accurate data, and report in a timely manner in order to take responsive measures and carry out rescue and recovery efforts effectively.

According to a report from the Battambang Provincial Committee for Disaster Management, the flash floods have affected 14 districts/cities, equivalent to 71 communes/sangkats, impacting a total of 19,291 households of residents, equivalent to 21,807 families. Of these, 856 families, or 2,767 people, have been evacuated to safe ground.
The floods also damaged 780 pieces of infrastructure and 35,612 hectares of rice crops. By: Pai Sokhim
