Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce is continuing to push locally processed products onto international markets. Cambodian-made goods have already entered more than 23,000 large supermarkets and well-known convenience stores worldwide, with sales networks covering major markets including the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, and ASEAN.
Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul said that promoting local companies into international retail channels is aimed not only at expanding export scale, but more importantly at raising the international profile of "Made in Cambodia" and enabling more local small and medium-sized enterprises to reach overseas consumers directly.
To help businesses tap international markets, the Ministry of Commerce is continuing to upgrade product quality, packaging design, and production standards, and is encouraging companies to refine their production processes in line with international market requirements to improve the competitiveness and brand value of Cambodian products.
Export data also show that Cambodia's foreign trade continues to grow. In the first eight months of this year, Cambodia's total exports reached US$24 billion, up 19.7% year on year. The United States, China, Vietnam, Japan, ASEAN, and several European countries remain Cambodia's major trading partners.
In terms of export structure, traditional products such as garments, footwear and travel goods still account for an important share, while exports of industrial products such as automobile tires, solar panels, and electronic components continue to grow, and agricultural products including rice, cashews, cassava and rubber are also steadily expanding their overseas markets.
As more local products enter international retail networks, Cambodia's exports are gradually shifting from traditional manufacturing and primary agricultural goods toward a more diversified, higher value-added direction. "Made in Cambodia" is also leveraging global retail channels to further expand its international market presence.
