Bilateral relations between Cambodia and Vietnam have achieved another historic milestone with the official launch of the "Chrey Thom (Cambodia) - Khanh Binh (Vietnam)" international land border checkpoint on October 3, 2026. This event represents a strategically important step in connecting infrastructure, facilitating the movement of people and goods, and strengthening security along the border line.
The meaningful ceremony was co-chaired by His Excellency Nou Sakhan, Chairman of the Kandal Provincial Council; His Excellency Kuoch Chamroeun, Governor of the Kandal Provincial Administration; and His Excellency Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province. It was also attended by leaders of relevant ministries and institutions, local authorities, and armed forces from both countries.
The upgrade and official opening of this international checkpoint will deliver practical benefits in key areas, facilitating travel and tourism and providing convenient, fast conditions for citizens of both countries and international tourists crossing the border.
It will also enhance the efficiency and time-saving of import-export supply chains between Kandal Province and An Giang Province, as well as between the two countries.
The two sides will work together to maintain security and public order and transform the border area into a zone of peace, friendship, cooperation, and continuous economic development. By: Pai Sokhim
