Recently, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia Sun Chanthol met with a delegation from the International Alliance for Responsible Drinking (IARD), led by Chief Executive Officer and Chair Julian Braithwaite. The two sides exchanged views on responsible drinking, social responsibility and future cooperation.
Sun Chanthol welcomed the delegation and commended IARD for its efforts to raise public awareness of responsible drinking, reduce the social impact of excessive drinking, and promote responsible practices in the alcoholic beverage industry.
He noted that the Cambodian government has always valued the role of the private sector in economic development, and has strengthened government-business communication, responded to investor concerns in a timely manner, and continued to improve the business environment through mechanisms such as the Government-Private Sector Forum, regular government-business dialogues, government-business breakfast meetings, and "Government-Private Sector Open Door" events.
Julian Braithwaite thanked Sun Chanthol for the meeting and briefed him on IARD's main work, policy directions and future plans at the global and regional levels. He said the Alliance hopes to strengthen cooperation with regional companies to improve the efficiency and impact of its work.
Sun Chanthol stressed that the Cambodian government attaches importance to public welfare, public safety and sustainable development, and encouraged IARD to continue cooperating with relevant Cambodian ministries, agencies and private companies to jointly promote public education and prevent excessive drinking.
Both sides agreed that strengthening collaboration among governments, industry organizations and enterprises helps enhance corporate social responsibility awareness, promote responsible business practices, and support social well-being and sustainable economic development.
